Awarded a four **** rating from the Cornish Tourist Board, Macalby Cottage is a self catering holiday cottage sleeping up to six people in three bedrooms, just a minutes walk to beautiful Harlyn Bay. Padstow is a 10 minute drive away, great surf, wide beaches with golden sand, and the best seafood restaurants around! The house is sunny, warm, comfortable and tastefully decorated. We have tried to ensure that all our guests needs are catered for and have broadband, a telephone, wall hung TV,Playstation and selection of games, DVD's/videos and a music system, together with a range of board games. We also provide 20 wetsuits in various sizes, together with a selection of surf boards exclusively for guests use. All bedding and towels are provided, including beach towels. The house is particularly suitable for small children and dogs as the garden is completely enclosed. A few minutes from the cottage you will find the Harlyn Inn which serves bar food and snacks, has a restaurant and outdoor seating. Our nearest village is St Merryn, two minutes drive away, with a variety of amenities. For food shopping there is also a large Tesco just outside Padstow. Padstow itself is a ten minute drive from the house. Since acquiring the house in December last year, we have received fabulous feedback and many repeat bookings. Approximately 6 miles from Newquay Airport, served by cheap flights from Stanstead, Gatwick and Manchester,trains to Bodmin.

Harlyn Bay is a beautiful stretch of golden sand in an area designated for its outstanding natural beauty, and offers great swimming and surfing, The Harlyn Surf School is located on the beach. The beach itself is approximately half a mile wide with soft golden sand, at the back of a sweeping open bay with only a few houses, which gives a lovely remote feel. There are low rocky headlands at each end of the bay, ideal for rock pooling. Life guards are in attendance from Easter through to the end of summer and the beach is dog friendly all year round. The quaint fishing port of Padstow with Rick Stein's Seafood Restaurant and deli is just a ten minute drive away. From the harbour it is posible to take boat trips as well as the ferry across to Rock. The Camel Trail, which winds around the estuary to Wadebridge on the track bed of the old railway line, is ideal for walking or cycling. Bike hire is available for all the family from either Padstow or Wadebridge. Within a five minute drive there are the equally impressive beaches of Trevone, Constantine, Treyarnon and the championship Links golf course of Trevose. Other local attractions include St Ives with the Tate Gallery, the Eden Project, King Arthur's Tintagel and Port Isaac and the spectacular Lost Gardens of Heligan and Jamie Oliver's 15 restaurant in Newquay.

Rooms Description

Downstairs we have an entrance hallway with a downstairs WC, the sitting room has two large comfortable sofas, a wall hung TV, DVD player,Playstation (with games) music system and video, we have provided a large selection of videos/DVD's for guests entertainment, together with loads of card/board games. We also have broadband and a telephone. The kitchen/dining room is well equipped with everything from lemon squeezers to a cafeteria! There is a microwave, dishwasher and a washer/dryer, table and six chairs. Double sliding doors from the kitchen lead to the garden, which is completely enclosed and paved in York stone with a large stone whitewashed wall at the end affording privacy. We have provided a large teak table with chairs and benches, and have boxed seating running along the end wall, which is a lovely suntrap and ideal to stretch out and sunbathe! There is a quality BBQ for al fresco dining. The house has its own private covered side access with a door at either end, which means you can come straight off the beach and wash down (we have a shower installed). Upstairs we have three bedrooms,the master bedroom has an en-suite WC and shower, there is a second large double room and a single room with bunk beds (adult sized)! All rooms have ample storage space with dressing tables, chest of drawers and lots of hanging space.
