Family Holidays Cornwall Holiday Parks Hayle Newquay Cornwall UK

Cornwall is one of the most popular holiday and short break destinations for families in the UK, particularly for Cornwall Holiday Parks, a superb selection of clean and safe family beaches around the coast and numerous family holiday attractions including adventure parks, farm adventure parks, surfing schools, waterparks, steam railways, zoos and top family museums such as Cornwall's maritime museum in Falmouth. Two great Cornwall family waterparks are located in Newquay and near Wadebridge.

Newquay tops the family holiday charts by far with it's choice of beaches, wide selection of family weekend, short break and holiday accommodation and numerous attractions in and around the area. Close behind it though is marvellous family holiday hotspot Hayle to the Far West of Cornwall. Hayle has a great family sandy beach backed on by sand dunes or 'Towans'. Both St Austell Bay and Mount's Bay are also popular with families offering great beaches and a choice of family holiday and caravan parks. Cornwall has family holidays well covered!

Newquay & Hayle Family Holidays

Newquay family holidays don't just include seaside surfing magic on Newquay's 11 beaches. Newquay and surrounds are home to numerous fantastic family holiday attractions including the superb Newquay Zoo, the spectacular Bluereef Aquarium, a choice of family farm funparks, Waterworld Waterpark, outdoor adventures and activities galore at Holywell Bay Fun Park and the rip roaring Tunnels Through Time where olde worlde Cornwall myth's come alive - spook!

Newquay's surfing scene is great for families, with numerous surf schools offering family oriented surfing lessons. All your family holiday amenities are here including a good choice of budget family holiday accommodation, great beaches, a superb shopping town centre with lots of great surf clothing shops. Newquay is a particularly good venue for families with teenage children!

Hayle in the Far West of Cornwall is perfect for family weekend trips, short breaks and holidays, with a great family beach and numerous family attractions in the area! Cornwall's top award winning wildlife park is situated in the Hayle area - good news for families looking for an all round fun day out, and a change from the beach and caravan parks at Hayle. What started as a tropical bird garden in 1973 has grown to include numerous other animal related attractions including the kids favourite - hands on fun Farm, plus numerous tropical plants in the Victorian walled garden, a new Jungle Barn indoor kids play area, and what's more this wildlife park has made an important contribution to bird conservation and considerable breeding of rare birds takes place here. The park combines both family fun, learning and interaction well with conservation.

Paradise Park has been chosen twice as Cornwall's number 1 family attraction, and you can see why. The Park is mammoth offering a choice of activities including free flying bird shows, mini train rides on the Jungle Express, penguins and otters and watch out for the Clough, Cornwall's emblem bird. There's a plant shop, real ale pub and cafe/restaurants all on-site. The new Jungle Barn indoor play area is perfect for the tots on rainy days, and check out the furry friends at the fun farm.

Newquay & Cornwall Family Holiday Beaches

Newquay's central main bay conveniently sits adjacent to the town centre and many of the surfing clothing shops, surfing schools and restaurants, pubs and fast food outlets. Newquay beaches in Newquay Bay include Great Western Beach, Towan Beach, Tolcarne Beach and delightful cove beach Lusty Glaze. This is where the peak season Cornwall holiday crowds head, and these four beaches combined offer 1 mile of beautiful sandy beach at low tide, perfect for families with children and beginner surfers generally although occasionally Newquay Bay beaches are the only ones where surfing is allowed on windy days when the weather is up.

Sheltered Towan Beach is popular with families with kids and situated nearest the harbour at the southern end of Newquay Bay. When the tide's low it's easily reached via steps from the harbour. Families love this Newquay beach as it offers numerous rock pools especially around the little Island. There's a natural paddling pool at the foot of the Island as well which families and young children love. Towan is the closest Newquay beach to the town centre so you've easy access to amenities. Parking is available adjacent to the gentle slope down to Towan. Top marks for a family beach! Amenities are particularly good on the beach and include toilets, a cafe and shop, disabled access and a direct bus service. Also Towan is a dog friendly beach!

Great Western Beach, adjacent to Towan, is not quite as sheltered but still popular with families. It's not so easily reached via a steep slope just off Cliff Road next to the Great Western Hotel. However at low tide Great Western can be reached to the right of the Island on Towan. The cliffs that back onto Great Western mean it's fairly sheltered so good sunbathing territory. Towards late afternoon it becomes shaded. Plenty of amenities here including a cafe, toilets, disabled access/toilet and a direct bus service. No dogs allowed on Great Western. Tolcarne beach next door to Great Western is privately owned and renowned for it's rows of beach huts which can be hired. Get to Tolcarne via steps down from the cliff face at Narrowclife or alternatively a winding slope at the east end. Tolcarne beach is popular with both surfers and families. Amenities including toilets, a cafe and direct bus service. No dogs allowed on Tolcarne Beach.

There's a choice of great family beaches around Cornwall. Some of the best can be found around St Austell Bay, particularly Mevagissey and Gorran Haven which also have a choice of family holiday parks. Another top favourite with families is Hayle near St Ives with it's glorious Hayle Towans (sand dune) beach and numerous family holiday parks. Cornwall Family Holiday Attractions

The Blue Reef Aquarium is situated in the heart of Newquay on Towan Beach, and is one of the most popular attractions. A key puller are the walkway tunnels where, as in the submarium in Hull, sharks and other marine life come amazingly close just above your head as you stroll through the tunnels. With an eye for conservation, this aquarium is well worth a visit with the kids with lots of interactive stuff going on to keep the interest.

The Eden Project near St Austell is one of the UK's top family attractions, with lots of interactive stuff going on here to keep the kids happy. On offer are two vast biomes or giant greenhouses, one a humid tropics biome and one a warm temperatures region. Also open to visitors is an area referred to as the outdoor biome, which contains more hardy plants including local Cornwall plants. Inside both biomes is indeed a celebration of nature, with plants jostling for place and care for the environment explored through not just exhibitions of plants but through artwork, lectures, storytelling, workshops and events including music events.

Check out the marvellous family attraction at Lands End - the Land's End experience. The complex is fully equipped with parking, a choice of shops with everything from Cornish Sweet shops to daa, the First and Last Shop. Tongue in cheek indeed. There's a very good choice of family restaurants with burger bars, pasty parlours and family pub restaurants galore. Attractions have a leaning towards all things King Arthur and Maritime. Check out the kitsch 'Relentless Sea', 'the story of mankind's struggle to win a living from the bountiful but unforgiving sea'! Hey ho, it'll raise a smile from the adults, and the kids love a bit of storytelling. The 'Wreckreation' Adventure Play Area is always crowded with kids, and very popular. also on-site is an RSPB Wildlife discovery Centre, and it's easy to hook into one of the many stunning coastal walks which are well mared with colour themes green and red - perfect for families. Well behaved dogs on leads are also welcome on the complex.

For all things King Arthur Legend head to Tintagel on the North Cornwall Coast - great for kids! Tintagel is thought to be the birthplace of King Arthur. It all culminates here at the King Arthur's Great Hall attraction in Tintagel. The key element is a laser show in the Great Hall, adorned with stained glass windows depicting Arthur legend scenes. The kids will love it, with Robert Powell's voice bellowing out the story of the legend, with the light show focusing on the large coloured windows depicting Arthur and his knights. All great fun.
