Rick Stein, now internationally renowned chef, and his passion for seafood are legendary and Padstow on the North Cornwall Coast is not exactly a surprise location if you've a passion for seafood. The Stein 'empire' includes not just his renowned seafood restaurant, but also the Georgian seafront hotel St Petrocs at Padstow, a Rick Stein fish and chip shop, a cookery school, a gift shop, Rick Stein's cafe, a patisserie, and a deli on South Quay. His Wine Cellar however is in Australia! Rick's Jack Russell 'Chalky' lives here too! Stein has certainly been good for the area - particularly fishermen and the fishing industry, and all his outlets have an accessible, friendly feel, open to all! (but you'll need a bit of cash).

Jamie Oliver Restaurant, Fifteen, Newquay
Jamie Oliver has arrived in Cornwall, and has for good reason chosen Newquay and Watergate Bay, with spectacular views of the Atlantic, as his third location for the first of what could be a scattering of Fifteen Jamie Oliver Restaurants in Cornwall, especially if franchising plans are successful. Fifteen Melbourne Australia is pending. A 15 Jamie Oliver Restaurant has already been operating in London for a number of years, and recruits young unemployed teenagers, who get the full chef training.
Jamie Oliver has come first to Newquay in Cornwall to work similar magic, in an area of high youth unemployment and seasonal peaks and troughs - good news for the area indeed. There's more than just Rick Stein Restaurants in Padstow, North Cornwall. The choice of charming cafes and restaurants around Padstow Harbour abounds. Newquay serves the holiday crowds well with it's choice of restaurants, chic bars and inns. From beachside cafes to sea view restaurants, it's all here in Newquay plus a good sprinkling of fast food restaurants offering food on the go. The Watergate Bay area of Newquay really is seeing an influx of superb restaurants.
Boscastle offers an excellent choice of dining venues, both formal and informal. Check out the newly refurbished Waterloo Restaurant at The Wellington Hotel, The Harbour, Boscastle. Tel: 01840 250202. With a little help from the Changing Rooms BBC Challenge, this Boscastle restaurant is now up and running again. With a chic contemporary interior, and a choice of fine, imaginative cuisine and an excellent choice of both vegetarian and vegan options. Pre-booking is essential in this AA 2 Rosette restaurant. The hotel dates back to the 16th Century and has had a number of celebrity guests including Thomas Hardy and Edward VII.
The choice of fine inns and pubs in Launceston in East Cornwall and it's surrounding Cornwall villages will amaze - fine real ales and superb pub grub are on the menu here. Cornwall Shopping Hotspots
Cornwall shopping and arts and crafts - where to start. So many of Cornwall's idyllic fishing villages, coastal towns and old market towns offers a superb choice of specialist shopping, with a real emphasis on locally produced and made products.
East Cornwall offers up some prime old market towns like Launceston - which is superb for arts and crafts shopping and numerous old inns, pubs and tearooms. Looe on the East Cornwall coast is the biggest surprise of all, quite simply the best of arts and crafts Cornwall style are here - a great Cornwall shopping haunt. Move west towards Fowey for a great choice of second hand bookshops, antiques and arts and crafts.
Padstow is you're top end of Cornwall ceramics, unique designs and a choice of unique off the wall clothing shops and more - another good shopping venue. Newquay tops the charts for surf clothing shops, and the odd off the wall bohemian clothes shops. It's a good town centre Newquay for pottering around in, with much of it pedestrianised.
Chic Truro has a village feel, and again is superb for specialist clothing, arts and crafts and locally run food shops. Stylish maritime Falmouth is really opening up on the shopping side - Falmouth has a student vibe, much like Devon's Exeter, and offers some really hip young off the wall fashion clothes shops and bohemian arts and crafts - a great town centre. Around the Falmouth Cornwall Maritime Museum there's a chic vibe, with numerous surfing shops, a square and a choice of great cafes - head there for a browse! Penzance is equally superb with the off beat Chapel Street antiques and clothing shops being the key attraction. St Ives too offers a good choice of clothing, arts and crafts and surf shops. Another surprise little gem sits at the bottom of Mounts Bay towards the Lizard. Porthleven has a touch of the sea, with numerous arts and crafts shops selling shell crafted ornaments and jewellery, plus a choice of great art shops. Shopping in Cornwall is chic, contemporary, bohemian and pure pleasure, with an emphasis on home grown produce!

Newquay's surfing gear and surf clothing shops are not hard to find. Many are located near the central Newquay Bay beaches along Fore Street and Cliff Street.
