Newquay Airport's main terminal building is light, airy and spacious with an excellent cafe offering snacks, hot and cold drinks and alcoholic beverages. It's seen some extensions recently to accommodate demand, and offers good views of the runway and plenty of space for friends and family to see off travellers or meet and greet. A large seating area is available, and internet and email facilities are offered.
Through to the departure lounge travellers have access to a cafe, seating area with excellent views over the runway and light meals and newsagent services. Everythings on a smaller scale to the large UK international airports, but Newquay has everything you need offer a small, friendly and efficient service.
Newquay Airport has been growing, with passenger numbers steadily increasing. Between 2003 to 2004, passenger numbers through the airport increased by 40%. Newquay Airports response to this, with the obvious need to develop services and facilities, is to charge a small Airport Development Fee (ADF) of ú5 (currently in 2006) to each departing traveller. Children under the age of 16 are exempt.
The ADF charge was introduced in October 2005 and has been set at ú5 for three years so expect an increase in October 2008. Airport Development fees are a relatively new phenomena in the UK and Newquay is the first airport to introduce it. However, we can expect to see this as the norm in the future as government funding is reduced and more onus is placed on passengers! On the plus side, reductions have been introduced on longer stay parking.
Newquay Airport parking facilities are good, with two secure car parks available adjacent to the terminal which offer in total 450 parking spaces. Charges are reasonable and cheaper than some of the larger UK airports. The first 30 minutes parking is free, with upto 2 hours only around the ú2 mark. Check the Newquay Airport website for up-to-date details on parking costs, particularly long stay car parking. More than 2 hours parking will take you upto ú6, with a ú4 to ú5 daily charge thereafter.
