Just up on the coast from Wadebridge are the twin resorts of Rock and Polzeath. Both are prime surfing, water skiing and sailing territory, and are also becoming rather popular with the celebrity crowd ever since Princes Harry and William learnt to water ski in this area. Blackpool expects a boom next year when they take a ride on the big dipper! Jolly wot, Rock is home to yacht clubs and water ski clubs galore, and along with Polzeath and the glorious sand dune backed flat sands of Daymer Bay in-between the two resorts this area of the North Cornwall coast offers some of the best sailing and water skiing facilities in Cornwall.
Whilst Rock is more of a sailing, yachting and water skiing haunt, head to Polzeath for top surfing! Watch out for the crowds at Polzeath beach in high season, as this beach is one of the top surfing beaches in Cornwall! There are breaks all along this stunning Cornwall surfing beach, and facilities here are excellent with a car park, toilets, a surf school and surf gear hire outlets, and a full lifeguard service in the summer season. Certainly the beach to be 'seen' on! The growing resort of Polzeath, still laid back though and certainly not as full on as Newquay, backs right onto the beach so ample restaurants, pubs, cafes and shops are all easily accessed - one of the reasons why this is a popular all round beach for both surfers and families. No dogs allowed on Polzeath Beach!
Daymer Bay, one of the top ten beaches in the world according to some, is beloved by families and windsurfers particularly. Dogs are welcome here too. A truly spectacular beach, with sand dunes and flat sand, with St Enodoc golf course and St Enodoc church, burial site of Sir John Betjeman just behind it. Excellent coastal walking is to be had here too, and the 13th century St Enodoc Church is easily reached from the beach. The little village of Trebetherick, with all basic village amenities, sits nearby and this small village is where Betjeman spent many a holiday. Many of his poems with a Cornish slant make reference to this area, particularly in favouritites such as 'Seaside Golf', 'Cornish Cliffs' and 'By the Ninth Green, St Enodoc'.

And down the fairway, far along, It glowed a lonely white; I played an iron sure and strong, And clipped it out of sight, And spite of grassy banks between, I knew I'd find it on the green"".
